Regional Transit Centre
For long-distance buses to Devonport, Hobart and St Helens
The Regional Transit Centre on St John Street, opposite the Sebel hotel, serves as a key point for people travelling to and from Launceston by long-distance bus. The stop is a central hub for several bus routes, connecting Launceston to other major locations, including Hobart, Devonport, Mole Creek, and St Helens.
This is a much larger transit centre that you would expect, considering that it only handles 5–10 coach services per day. It includes a ticket office, toilets and an indoor waiting area.
This bus stop replaced the Cornwall Square Transit Centre, which closed in 2023 and the temporary bus station on Charles Street, which operated after the closure of the Cornwall Square Transit Centre.
The Regional Transit Centre serves a range of long-distance routes. Kinetic’s route 700 and 702 services connect Launceston to Hobart, while route 705 heads to Devonport and route 762 runs to Mole Creek. Carlow’s Coaches operate route 740, which connects to the east coast, including St Helens.
