Burnie Regional Museum

Local history museum

Burnie Regional Museum is a small museum showcasing the region’s social, industrial and cultural development.

What to see at the Burnie Regional Museum

The museum’s main attraction is its Federation Street exhibit, a recreated early 20th-century streetscape. Visitors can walk along the cobbled path and explore period-style shops and buildings, including a general store, blacksmith’s forge and post office. The exhibit offers a glimpse into everyday life during this period, with authentic furnishings and objects on display.

The museum also holds a collection of artefacts from Burnie’s industrial history, including tools, machinery and photographs. These items illustrate the role of industries such as timber, farming and shipping in shaping the town.

Natural history exhibits include specimens of local flora and fauna, showcasing the region’s diverse environment. Interactive displays and activities make this section popular with families.
