Devonport Airport (DPO)
Small regional airport
Devonport Airport provides an alternative entry point to Tasmania’s northern coast, compared with the busier airport at Launceston.
Devonport Airport is linked to Melbourne with both QantasLink and Rex flying this route.
The airport provides basic facilities to accommodate travellers. There is a café within the terminal that offers light meals, snacks and coffee for passengers awaiting flights. Seating areas are available, though they are limited in size, and the overall layout is straightforward and functional.
Qantas business class travellers and travellers with Sapphire and Emerald status on a Oneworld airline, including gold and platinum Qantas frequent flyers, get access to the Qantas Club lounge when travelling on QantasLink.
The airport is 10km from Devonport’s town centre. There isn’t a lot in the immediate vicinity around the airport and public transport connections are poor; however, the location may work for you if you’re planning on flying into Tasmania to travel by rental car.
As a smaller airport, it offers a more relaxed arrival experience compared to larger airports, making it an easy gateway to Tasmania but only if you’re driving.
