Mures
Iconic waterfront seafood restaurant
Mures is a prominent seafood restaurant on Hobart’s waterfront, known for its focus on local seafood. The restaurant operates across two levels, with Mures Upper Deck offering a fine dining experience, while the Lower Deck provides a considerably more casual setting.
Mures specialises in fresh seafood, with the menu focusing on locally caught fish and shellfish. Popular choices include dishes featuring abalone, rock lobster, and oysters. Mures also offers its own brand of fish and chips, using fresh catch prepared in-house. The restaurant sources seasonal produce to accompany its seafood dishes, with local vegetables and herbs featured prominently in the menu.

Mures Lower Deck is a down-to-earth cafeteria-style fish and chip restaurant. It would be nothing special anywhere else, but the waterfront location makes this a top choice for an affordable meal in a spectacular setting.
The menu on the Lower Deck consists of fish and chips, pizzas, and fish or curried scallop pies as well as 32 flavours of ice cream. It’s not super cheap, but then fish and chips is not the bargain it once was, and it’s worth the money for the view, especially if you sit outside.
The Upper Deck provides a more formal dining atmosphere, with a menu designed to highlight premium Tasmanian seafood. The layout includes floor-to-ceiling windows, offering views over the harbour and the atmosphere is considerably more sophisticated on the Upper Deck compared to what you find downstairs.
