Local museum and information centre

The Wonders of Wynyard Exhibition and Visitor Information Centre is part tourist information centre and part museum, providing an insight into the local region’s history and environment.

What to see at Wonders of Wynyard

The exhibition features a small collection of historic cars as well as displays documenting local history.

Permanent displays include a small veteran car collection, a Japanese doll collection, a lifesize paper sculpture of FM Alexander (founder of the Alexander Technique) and a display detailing the history of the Tommeginer people, one of the Aboriginal tribes that lived in this region prior to European settlement.

The collection of historic vehicles includes a Ford Model A from 1903, a Darracq Flying 15 from 1905, a Ford Model K from 1907 and a 1911 Brush.

Temporary exhibitions at Wonders of Wynyard

Wonders of Wynyard also hosts a programme of temporary exhibitions in addition to its permanent exhibits. Current and planned exhibitions include:

Visiting Wonders of Wynyard

The centre is on Exhibition Link in the centre of Wynyard and most points of interest in the town centre are no more than a five-minute walk away (you can even walk to the airport in less than 10 minutes).

It is open daily year round and admission is free of charge.

The complex is shared with Wynyard’s tourist information centre and there is also a small shop selling gifts and souvenirs.
